Bezalel and Oholiab are the artisans whom God endows with the skill to design and create the beautiful works required for the Mishkan, the Israelite’s portable sanctuary in the wilderness.

In this week’s double Torah portion Vayak’heil-P’kudei, we learn that everyone in the community who excelled in the skills needed to create the Mishkan came forward to participate in its creation.

Not all of us are talented craftsmen, but we each do possess special talents. Sharing ourselves by using these skills to enrich our Temple community is a wonderful way to express our gratitude for these blessings.

Let’s each ask ourselves, “what special talent do I have and how can I share it with my Temple community?” Together we can grow stronger.

B’shalom,
Rabbi Bellush
