The Saperstein/Bernstein Religious and Hebrew
School is actually two schools with different goals. Our Hebrew language
program is geared to provide a working reading knowledge of the language
so that children and adolescents can carry out the responsibilities of Bar/Bat
Mitzvah and carry that knowledge into adulthood. The school meets as per
the schedule below.
The Religious School program was founded in 1920. Our all volunteer faculty,
led by Rabbi Glenn
Jacob and Principal Barry Amper, teaches
grades K through 6 on Sunday mornings and grades 7 through high school in
our unique Tuesday evening program.
Steeped in our Reform traditions, both programs teach the traditional stories
of our faith, attempting to instill in our youngest congregants the values
that Jews have cherished for thousands of years.
Our Upper School meets Tuesday evenings at 6:15 for dinner, followed by
a diverse curriculum addressing the issues of our time with focus on the
value system we share. The tenth grade program builds to Confirmation which
is held each year at Shavuot.
Temple Am-Echad is very proud of its faculty and its students. Many of our
children have gone on to become Rabbis and Cantors.
Our school is open to visitors by appointment. Please call the school
office during class hours to arrange a visit for you and your child.
